“A Journey From Good To Greatness”


ELLAS 12thAnnual Empowerment Conference & Ducinea Awards—is a collaborative of professional presenters, career workshop presentations, motivational speakers and ELLAS Program curriculum.  ELLAS conference objective is to attract 400 Latina high school students from five (5) Public High Schools in the county of Los Angeles, 100 Latina professionals, 30 workshop presenters, eight (8) exemplary Latina/Hispana honorees and two (2) Honorary Latinas.  Conference material and presentations are designed to recognize the benefits of higher education and the lack of upward mobility for Latinas/Hispanas in (Corporate America, Public Service, Academia, STEM fields etc…).

ELLAS mantra 21st Century Latinas—“A Journey From Good To Greatness” embraces the annual recognition and celebration of eight exemplary Latina role models, two honorary Latinas for their accomplishments, academically, personally and professionally. Each honoree will have her picture and biography framed and placed on ELLAS website Wall of Inspiration an online historical exhibition of exemplary Latinas who have influenced as well as contributed to the community, state and our country’s social, judicial, political, educational and business upward mobility. At the conclusion of the career workshops and Dulcinea Awards Luncheon, the young women and our guests will enjoy a Dress for Success Fashion Show.

ELLAS Founder President In 2003 Ms. Pinel founded (ELLAS) Embracing Latina Leadership AllianceS a non-profit 501(c)(3) mentor/leadership program, serving the Greater Long Beach and Los Angeles Area with her own financing. A role model herself, she tirelessly commits seven days a week, and at times over fourteen hours a day, committing nearly ten year of her professional and personal support without financial compensations, demonstrating her sincere efforts to encourage and improve the quality of life for underprivileged Latinas while expanding academic and career paradigms.
